Hatch Youth

Dedicated to Empowering LGBTQIA+ Youth

Hatch Youth & Hatch Jr. Drop-In Support Groups

Hatch Youth is Houston’s oldest, currently active social group dedicated to empowering LGBTQIA+ youth between the ages of 7 and 20. Hatch Youth groups provide a safe and affirming environment where youth can socialize, make new friends, and engage in educational and creative activities to help youth in and around Houston not just survive, but thrive. Educational programs include:

  • LGBTQIA+ health issues and accessing care
  • Mental health and wellness
  • LGBTQIA+ rights
  • Queer history
  • Creative writing and art
  • Social justice
  • Community resources
  • Empowering community speakers
  • Fun and games

The groups are comprised of introductions, social time, programming, and small group, and are curated by Hatch staff and trained volunteer facilitators. Youth have access to role models and peer support and can participate in special projects and events, including Hatch Prom and walking in the annual Pride Houston 365 Parade. There are no costs for any activities.

Please keep in mind that these groups are not group therapy and aren’t a substitute for therapy. If you would like to learn more about counseling for youth, please call the Montrose Center’s main number or visit our Become a Client page.

Hatch Youth meetings occur every Tuesday from 5-7pm (via Zoom), Friday from 6:30-9:30pm (in-person, masks required), and Sunday from 6-8pm (via Zoom). Hatch Jr. takes place on the second and fourth Sundays of each month from 2-4:30pm alongside PFLAG Houston’s monthly meeting at the Montrose Center, which parents can attend while their child is in Hatch Jr.

Resources for Trans/Gender Diverse Youth

We pulled together a list of handy resources for trans/gender diverse youth! While this is by no means comprehensive, we hope it’s helpful for those in need of support!
