The party on Saturday, October 8, will include performances by Raja, Coming Out Divas (organized by Tye Blue), and an auction of artwork by local artists. Stopping Traffic

On Tuesday, September 20, Montrose Counseling Center and Houston Rescue and Restore Coalition will present Cutting Edge, a movie about the rise of human trafficking and the sex trade in Romania. The film will begin at 7 p.m. in Rooms 106/107 of the GLBT Cultural Center, 401 Branard Street. This event is free and open to all; however the film does address mature subject matter, so viewer discretion is advised.

It’s Not Easy Being Rainbow

It’s not easy to talk about suicide, but we must. Montrose Counseling Center offers support groups and individual counseling for those dealing with depression or anxiety. If you find yourself spinning into darkness, volunteers with Gay & Lesbian Switchboard Houston are available for crisis calls, 24 hours a day,  at 713.529.3211.

Academic Year Opens in Earnest with LGBTQ Youth Summit

On Saturday, Sept. 17, Montrose Counseling Center will co-host “2011 Voices of Houston LGBTQ Youth Summit: Taking Back Our Schools” in the GLBT Cultural Center. The day-long workshop will help youth connect, share advice, and learn how to create change on their campuses. Educators, faculty and parents are also welcome.

Whether you work in our Cyber Center, at an event, in the office, with a special project, by answering the Gay & Lesbian Switchboard Houston hotline, or by teaching a class in the GLBT Cultural Center, you can help us improve quality of life for GLBT individuals.
