SUMMARY:Pride Houston: Festival & Parade 2019
DESCRIPTION:Moving Mankind Forward! \nIt was a summer of small steps and giant leaps. A summer of love in the midst of great trials. And it was the summer our story began– when Marsha P. Johnson and others stood firm against oppression and began the now infamous Stonewall Riots. \nThis year\, as we find ourselves battling the same familiar hate… we choose love in the midst of our own great trials. We celebrate integrity\, individuality and each other. We are stardust\, we are golden\, and we are bringing the party back and better than ever to Downtown Houston! \nCome out\, all space geeks and hippie freaks. Come join us when we fill the streets! \n\nThe next Pride Celebration will be on Saturday\, June 22nd\, 2019 marks 50 years since Stonewall\, and we’re gearing up for an event that promises to honor that occasion\, and celebrate ourselves\, equality and LOVE!

SUMMARY:Pride Houston: Rainbow on the Green
DESCRIPTION:Land Rover Houston Central Rainbow on the Green presented by Legacy Community Health returns to Discovery Green on Friday\, June 22. The park’s ninth annual free LGBT community celebration welcomes everyone in the city for an evening of electrifying entertainment at the park\, featuring performances by headliner Deborah Cox\, a Grammy Award-nominated R&B artist and Broadway star; Latin singer Edward Salles\, making his U.S. debut; The Patternist\, an emerging electro pop artist; and more. \nDiscovery Green opened to the public in April 2008 with a mission “to provide an uncommonly beautiful\, urban green space that serves as a village green for our city\, a source of health and happiness for our citizens\, and a window into the incredible diversity of talents and traditions that enrich life in Houston.” Land Rover Houston Central’s Rainbow on the Green presented by Legacy Community Health embodies that mission by continuing Discovery Green’s traditions of free programming\, celebrating diversity and welcoming families and individuals to an oasis in the heart of Houston. \nBe sure to arrive early\, you don’t want to miss drag performances by Houston’s own Dessie Love Blake and Reign. \nThe event is free to attend. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs.

SUMMARY:Pride Houston: Unleashed
DESCRIPTION:Leather and Otters and Bears\, oh my! $10 Donation. Pre-sale or at the door. \nThe Eagle tradition started in NYC back in 1970. It all started at a Longshoreman’s pub called “the Eagle Open Kitchen\,” located at 142 11th avenue at 21st street\, in operation from 1931-1970. The Stonewall riots in 1969 brought great pride to the closeted Gay community\, who began to come out in droves to celebrate who they are\, creating great social change around the country. Jack Modica bought the Eagle kitchen and changed it to a Leather/Levi bar. Black paint and a used\, beat-up old motorcycle comprised the decor – it is that moment in time that the Eagle institution was born\, and proudly continues today.
